The above figures represent the time that PagePlop was not serving web pages due to equipment failure, software failure, and telco failure, or electrical failure that results in data transmission stoppage. It does not include data for internal scheduled maintenance which PagePlop occasionally performs during our maintenance window between 2 AM and 5 AM, eastern standard time. Outages for maintenance generally occur twice a month and last approximately 5 minutes. For reference, anything over 99.5 percent uptime is considered mandatory for an ISP while a figure in excess of 99.9 percent is extraordinary.

Also consider that an outage does not necessarily represent a loss of connectivity for all clients. Due to the distributed nature of the PagePlop web servers, a simple 30-second crash of one machine does not affect but a small percentage of all clients.
