PayPal Scam Warning
29 October 2002
We have learned of a new scam that is being sent via email to PayPal customers (and possibly others). The email indicates that PayPal needs to update your information including, of course, your credit card or other account information. As we understand, the email asks you to reply and complete the information in the reply email, rather than going to a form on the PayPal web site. Please do not send any information, especially financial, in response to such an email. PayPal does not need to update your information. Even so, PayPal would not ask you to update your information via email - they would require you to log in to their web site.
